Nov. 16, 2020 —
Open season is here. Don’t miss your chance to make your choice for 2021 health coverage, as well as dental or vision coverage before open season ends on Dec. 14. To learn more about open season and your options, join the “TRICARE Open Season is Here—What to Do?” webinar on Nov. 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET.
“If you’d like to change your current health, dental, or vision coverage, act by Dec. 14,” said Mark Ellis, chief of the Policy and Programs Section of the TRICARE Health Plan with the Defense Health Agency. “During the webinar, get answers to questions about enrollment and coverage for you and your family.”
Each fall, TRICARE Open Season allows you to enroll in or change your TRICARE Prime option, including the US Family Health Plan, or TRICARE Select plan for the next year. You don’t have to re-enroll if you want to stay in your health plan. You’ll continue in your current health plan through 2021 or as long as you’re eligible. However, most Group A retirees and family members enrolled in TRICARE Select have to set up payment for new monthly enrollment fees to keep TRICARE Select coverage. These fees go into effect on Jan. 1, 2021.
Also taking place now through Dec. 14 is the Federal Benefits Open Season. This means if you’re eligible for dental or vision coverage through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), you can enroll in a plan. If you’re already enrolled in a FEDVIP dental or vision plan and you don’t want to make a change, your enrollment will automatically continue in 2021. To compare FEDVIP plan and costs, check out resources on the BENEFEDS website.
You can learn the differences between TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select by checking out the TRICARE Plans Overview. You can also compare plan features using the Compare Plans Tool. As outlined in the TRICARE Costs and Fees Fact Sheet and Compare Costs Tool, costs between the plans differ.
To get the information you need, don’t miss the Nov. 19 TRICARE webinar. A Q&A led by the presenter will follow the presentation. Registration for the webinar is on a first come, first served basis. Register today.
